lrg-1238664690-delaneysmileweb.JPGGlenn Delaney is calling on the support of the local sporting community when Nottingham Rugby take their first step towards a place in the Guinness Premiership on Sunday.

The Green and Whites face the formidable challenge of a home game against Exeter Chiefs at Meadow Lane in their opening pool fixture in the inaugural Championship play-offs (3pm).

And Delaney, the club's director of rugby, is hoping that season-ticket holders of Nottingham Forest, Notts County and members of Nottinghamshire CCC respond to an incentive to help swell the attendance at Meadow Lane.

Nottingham's three neighbours in the sporting quarter have agreed to back a 'buy-one-get-one-free' scheme, which is exclusively available for the Exeter fixture to their season-ticket holders and members.

He said: "We'll need every bit of help we can get to enable us to make a flying start against Exeter, and I really hope that the sporting public of Nottingham get behind us.

"The prize at stake when we get to the end of the line is absolutely massive, and we need to tackle the challenge head-on.

"We're capable of beating any of the play-off contenders if we get it right on the day, and we need to go out and prove that.

"We are very grateful to the other professional clubs in Nottingham for being so supportive and it would be brilliant if their fans are inspired to take up the offer."

The adult admission price against Exeter is £15 but season-ticket holders can get two tickets for that price.

They must be purchased in advance by 5pm tomorrow by calling 0115 907 0072.

Anyone interested must provide their personal number as proof that they are a season-ticket holder.
