Nottingham Granted Injunction at High Court

Nottingham Rugby has today been granted an injunction by the High Court.

Following an announcement last week that the new owners at Notts County - Munto Finance - no longer wanted rugby at the Magpies' ground, the club was forced to take High Court Action.

Director of Nottingham Rugby Alistair Bow said: "We have secured the injunction on the contract, therefore it will allow us to play the Leicester Tigers game at Meadow Lane.

"We would like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors and everybody else who has backed us with this.

In a statement last week Notts County said that they did not believe the ground share was compatible with a team aiming to play top flight football and that it was no longer "commercially advantageous".

The close links between the two clubs date back to 2005 when the rugby club paid Notts County £50,000 to help them through a period of extreme financial hardship.

In 2006 the two clubs signed a ground share agreement, which has given the Magpies in excess of £75,000 per season plus all bar and catering income and financial contributions to pitch maintenance.

Nottingham Rugby will be playing Leicester Tigers at Meadow Lane on August 15, which is sure to attract a big crowd and a substantial financial boost for the club.
