U20s Clinch Midlands Trophy

Kane Nixon captained the NLD U20s side to a Midlands Trophy last night in a 32-nil victory over their East Midlands rivals.

Six of the starting line-up play a part in Nottingham's Academy set up and manager John Widdowson was pleased with the result.

He said: "The Academy guys made a really good show of themselves and to have so many involved with the squad is fantastic.

"Joe Symcox, whose parent club is Mansfield, scored a try during the match and there were a couple of the other lads who were unlucky to miss out.

"We are really proud of what they have managed to achieve and it's great to have them playing rugby at this level.

"It's testament to what we are doing with the Academy process and it shows there is a lot of quality in the NLD region at the moment."
