Both sides took the opportunity to give time on the field to as many of their players as possible, with replacements (or "interchanges" as the Coventry PA announcer insisted on calling them) a constant feature.

Consequently it was difficult for either to establish any real pattern, and much of the play was disjointed, but there were positives for both.

Converted tries from Vilame Iongi and Brent Wilson saw the sides go in at half time level at fourteen points apiece.
Three penalties took the Green and Whites clear at 23-14, but a late try from the home side brought them back to within a couple of points.

The closing minutes were tense and anxious, and when Coventry won a penalty they duly took the lead.
Nottingham threw everything into attack to try and force any kind of score and win the game.

Two penalties came their way. From the first they opted for a scrum retake but could not make it count. From the second they opted for a kick at goal, only to miss.
