BRENT Wilson is determined to take the Green and Whites
to new heights.
And it's not just
as captain of Championship side Nottingham Rugby, but as coach of
lower league outfit Corsairs.
For Wilson, the top job with the Midlands Four East (North) side
is a perfect fit - the clubs share a long history, the iconic
hoops, and even their home at the Lady
Bay Sports Complex.
The former New Zealand Sevens international has started to turn
things around for the competition strugglers, leading them to their
first league win of the campaign against Tupton earlier this
month.
That is just the beginning of Wilson's plans as he tries to
rebuild the side from the ground up after their relegation last
season.
"Since I got my coaching badge I've been on the lookout for a
challenge and I've certainly found one with Corsairs," said
Wilson.
"It's a club with amazing potential, there is so much youth,
hundreds of juniors and minis running around in green and white
every week, and most importantly there is a lot of ambition.
"Right now the door is open for players of all abilities to
train with the senior side on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Lady
Bay as we try build a squad.
"It has been difficult with low numbers, but there is a core
group and great enthusiasm among the lads to make Corsairs the best
it can be."
