Nottingham Rugby returns to Greene King IPA Championship
action on Saturday 12th April as they take on Ealing
Trailfinders (kick off 3pm).
The Green and Whites go into the match knowing that a victory
will confirm their status in the Championship for the 2014/15
A welcome boost ahead of the match is the naming of Joe Cobden
on the wing for the game. Cobden has been out all season as
he recovered from a serious knee injury sustained at the back end
of the last campaign and this is the first time he has been
available for selection.
Nottingham Head Coach Marting Haag said, "It's great to see Joe
Cobden back in the match day squad after a long absence. He
had hit a rich vein of form before his injury last season and it's
always disappointing not to have a player with his talent
"Credit to Joe though, he has worked incredibly hard to get
himself fit again and has kept his head up throughout the minor
setbacks he experienced during his recovery. He was
determined to play this season which is a real testament to his
character. A lot of praise must go to the medical staff at
the club and to Jo Brun (Strength and Conditioning Coach) for the
amount of time they have committed to Joe's recovery."
Nottingham went down 28-27 when the two sides met at Meadow Lane
in January despite having the better of territory and possession in
the match. Haag knows his team will have to be on top of
their game from the first whistle to secure a result.
He said, "Our preparation for this match has been really
good. We had three good days to work on some technical
elements and impart some key tactical information to the squad
before having a couple of days off to freshen up.
"We know how important this match against Ealing is and our
focus is on winning this match, if we do that, then other things
will take care of themselves. Our performances have been
improving but the results haven't quite been there, so we know that
we need a 'W' and our focus is on getting that this weekend.
"Ealing are at home and they're fighting for their lives in this
division and we'll be expecting them to come out determined to
win. They'll be physical and they'll try to put us under
pressure and I'd expect nothing else from a team in the situation
they're in. It should be a cracking game!"
Haag has made one change to his pack as Tom Calladine returns
from injury to line up in the back row. Toby Freeman moves
back to the second row and Neilus Keogh drops out.
The backs remain unchanged apart from Cobden's return on the
left wing in place of George Catchpole. Brent Wilson is still
unavailable so Dan Montagu continues as captain.
