Crane in the mix to face Pirates

NOTTINGHAM Rugby could be set for a massive boost this weekend with winger Rhys Crane poised to return to action.

Crane fractured his leg in the win over Bedford on January 27, and has shown remarkable signs of recovery since rejoining teammates at the clubs' Lady Bay training base last week.

The 27-year-old started running for the first time since the injury last week and rejoined full-contact sessions on Tuesday.

Head coach Martin Haag said Crane could be selected to face Cornish Pirates at Meadow Lane on Sunday (1.15pm kick-off).

"This is the time of year that you want competition for places to be fierce, so it is great that we have everyone back fit," Haag said.

"Rhys needs to play and we have two games for him to get sharp. In these next two games we might see some changes, giving guys a chance to stake a claim for a place in the play-off games."
