Nottingham Rugby scrum-half Finlay Barnham will today undergo
scans on a potentially season ending knee injury.
Finlay Barnham is set to undergo scans on his injured knee. PIC:
Barnham went down injured in the final seconds of Sunday's win
against the Cornish Pirates which guaranteed Nottingham second
place in the league.
The 22-year-old's condition has been monitored throughout the
week, but the severity of the injury will not be clear until he
undergoes a final series of tests.
Green and Whites backs coach Ben Johnston said: "At the moment
we don't know how long Fin is going to be out, so it is a bit of a
waiting game with him."
With an historic play-off semi-final berth already secured,
Nottingham will rest a number of players who have picked up slight
knocks in recent weeks.
Captain Brent Wilson, who was ruled out at the eleventh hour
against the Cornish Pirates with a back complaint, has trained
strongly but has not been considered for selection this week.
No. 8 Alex Shaw, centre Tim Streather and full-back Andrew
Savage all came off with slight injuries last week and will be
given every chance to regain full-fitness before the semi-final
first leg away on the first weekend of May.
Johnston said: "We are looking after those few people with
"We are still training next week and we hope to have them all
back at their best by then."
