Community Department Supports Moderns Recruitment Day

Nottingham Rugby's Joe Cobden and Finlay Barnham will be offering a helping hand at Nottingham Moderns' recruitment day on Sunday (22nd September), before their team mates take to the field for The Big Kick-Off against London Welsh at Meadow Lane (Kick off 3.15pm).

Centre Cobden and Scrum Half Barnham will be present between 11am and 12pm to help deliver training sessions alongside the club's community coaches as they continue to develop their links with local clubs.

Nottingham Moderns are hoping to boost the numbers in their Under 13 ranks by hosting the recruitment day and have invited four local schools along to take part in the day.

Attending the session will be students from Djanogly City Academy, Blue Coat Academy, Farnborough School and The Nottingham Emmanuel School.

The recruitment day will take place between 10:30am and 1:30pm at Nottingham Moderns RFC, Main Road, Wilford, Nottingham, NG11 7AA.

Nottingham Rugby Community Co-ordinator, Rob Pearce, said, "The recruitment day at Nottingham Moderns is a great opportunity for young players from the schools in attendance to show what they've got and join a structured set-up.

"Playing for a club will help the players develop their skill set in an encouraging environment and will help some of them on the pathway to taking rugby more seriously as they get older.

"The Nottingham Rugby Community Programme exists to help clubs develop players and promote rugby as both a viable career path and an excellent leisure activity.  We're proud to support such initiatives and look forward to seeing the talent on offer on Sunday."

The Championship players will be available for photographs and will be taking part in The Big Kick-Off photograph with those who attend the recruitment day before the main action gets underway at Meadow Lane later in the afternoon.

Participants will be granted free tickets for the Green & Whites opening home game of the season, as they look to build on the good start they made against Leeds Carnegie in the season's curtain raiser last time out.

Nottingham face a difficult challenge as they take on the side who were relegated from the Aviva Premiership last season and have been installed as the favourites for the title this season.

Both teams go into the game in good form after securing impressive wins in the opening round of matches.

Tickets for the game are available by contacting the Nottingham Rugby office on 0115 9070070.
