THE Nottingham Rugby lads have shown they are bang on
trend after the arrival of the latest fashion craze to hit the UK -
male leggings or 'meggings'.
Take note Green
Army, the players showed exactly what it takes to pull off this
look and Sara Cox from Radio 1 certainly agreed!
The pictures featured the men in some rather fetching green
stockings ahead of the match against local rivals Doncaster Knights
for the Robin Hood Shield. OK, so James Arlidge, Tim Streather and
Shaun Malton were in it for the comedy value rather than the high
fashion, but the effect of the hunks in their skimpy attire
certainly had Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox flustered live on air when she
saw a picture tweeted by the team.
Sitting in for Fearne Cotton, Sara Cox said: "(reading out
tweet)Real men do wear tights, but only in Nottingham #RobinHood...
Oh is that the Nottingham Rugby boys!! They've sent in a picture
and Anna's been studying it, she's very professional!
So they are dressed in their green rugger tops, with apple
green tights on, which are very tight indeed (laughs)! Anna put her
hand over the screen going 'Ooo, they're quite sheer' (laughs).
Thank you very much for that, the Nottingham Rugby boys."
Whilst they might not look good on everyone, the Nottingham
Rugby boys have shown that they are man enough and aren't afraid to
show off their brawn! The big question is will we be seeing captain
Brent Wilson or his merry men out and about in town in meggings?
Sara Cox's personal favourite, outside centre Tim Streather
said:
"100% NO! I wasn't best pleased about wearing tights in front of
the lads, so for it to be mentioned on national radio...ecstatic!
No, only joking, these calves were made for leggings, so if I'm
honest I don't blame Sara for showing interest. Thanks Sara!"
But the ladies of Nottingham needn't despair, because you can
see even more of the players (wink wink) in the Official 2013
Nottingham Rugby Calendar which is out now! The calendar is £10 and
available online, in the club shop and at all home matches at
Meadow Lane.
The next home match takes place on the 23rd December
against Moseley, making the calendar an ideal last minute Christmas
present!
