Following the recent announcement that the RPA (Rugby Players'
Association) will include a new RFU Championship Award at the RPA
Computacenter Players' Awards 2013, the shortlist of nominees have
today been confirmed.
The RFU Championship Player of the Year Award is recognition of
the outstanding talent in the Championship and the winner will be
unveiled during the awards ceremony to be held at Battersea
Evolution, London, on Wednesday 22nd May.
Streather, 24, has been a luminary for the Green and Whites this
term, helping the East Midlands club qualify for the play-off
semi-finals for the first time.
The centre has scored seven tries and made 19 appearances in all
competitions for Nottingham this season. His stunning early season
form earned Streather a start for the RFU Championship XV
against the touring Maori All Blacks side at Castle Park.
On receiving his nomination, Streather said: "There have been so
many good players within my own team so I'm really happy to have
made the shortlist. I'd like to thank Martin Haag and the whole
coaching and support team at Nottingham RFC - the incredible work
they have done with the squad has meant that the whole squad has
performed to its potential - this has made it easier for everyone,
including me, to play well."
Streather's efforts this season made him one of the most
sought-after players in England's second-tier competition, and last
month he penned a deal to join Premiership club Saracens next
The nominees are:
