The excitement is beginning to build, as after a four-year wait, the British & Irish Lions are back on tour this summer, as they prepare for what promises to be an epic series against the current World Champions New Zealand.
The Green & Whites will be celebrating the tour, with a ‘Down Under Dinner‘, featuring Lions legend Phil Bennett OBE, at The Bay, on Friday 16th June 2017.
Tickets are selling fast for this special event, as Lions fever starts to sweep Britain, with the series taking place between June 3rd and July 8th.
An entertaining evening is planned, beginning with a drinks reception from 7.00pm, a three course meal, followed by after dinner entertainment from the legendary Phil Bennett.
Bennett made his Wales debut on 22 March 1969, against France, in Paris, at the age of 20, when he became the first Welsh substitute in international rugby and went on to succeed Barry John at fly half.
His form meant that he joined the British Lions on their famous tour to South Africa in 1974, scoring 103 points. His 50-yard try against South Africa at Pretoria on that tour was a career highlight.
Bennett retired from international rugby union in 1978, having won a total of 29 Welsh caps. He played his club rugby at Llanelli RFC, where he played 16 seasons. He also played 8 times for the Lions, 20 times for the Barbarians, including the famous game against the All Blacks in January 1973.
Tickets for this one-off event are priced at just £60 per person, or a discounted rate of just £500 for a table of 10. The event is expected to be a sell-out, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
