Nottingham Rugby are pleased to announce the re-signing of fullback and winger Jack Spittle for the 2017/18 season.
The promising back three player has signed his first professional contract, after completing his studies at Nottingham Trent University and is Nottingham’s third graduating NTU student signing to be announced, following the news that Josh Poullet and Ben Brownlie have both penned full-time deals with the Green & Whites.
Due to injury, the 22 year-old has only featured in two matches this season, scoring one try in Nottingham’s 36-34 Championship win over Bedford Blues, at Goldington Road, back in November, but head coach Ian Costello saw enough in those two appearances, and in training in the first half the season, to offer the youngster a one-year deal, and said:
“He’s a very exciting talent and a smart and confident player. We’ve seen glimpses this season of what he is capable of, his skill-set, his athleticism and his balance. He sees things quickly and makes good decisions on the back of it.
“It’s yet another measure of the success of the partnership between NTU and Nottingham Rugby and we’re delighted that Jack has decided to continue his rugby career here.”
The club would also like to pass on their best wishes to a number of outgoing players, who are moving on to pastures new.
James Stephenson, Conor Bullivant, Tom Heard, Rob Langley, Lawrence Rayner and Harry Morley have now all been confirmed as leaving the club, following last month’s news that both Morgan Eames and Toby Freeman plan to move on over the summer.
Everyone at the club would like to thank them for their fantastic efforts and wish them well in their future endeavours.
With the futures of a further twelve, 2016/17 squad members still to be announced, and more new signings still in the pipeline, keep an eye on the club’s website and social media for all the latest updates over the summer.
