The team at Lady Bay Festival have been working on some exciting plans to give us all something to look forward to next year. Keen to follow up on the success of their virtual festival in June but unable to plan the family-friendly event in the normal format, Lady Bay Festival were delighted to team up with Nottingham Rugby to develop a special COVID-safe live music event for early summer.

The result is ‘A night at the Bay’ – a triple-headliner gig night featuring Britpop legends Nigel Clark (Dodgy) Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Chris Helme (The Seahorses). The event will take place at The Bay, home of Nottingham Rugby in Lady Bay, West Bridgford, on Saturday 5th June 2021. With doors at 6pm and a 10:30 curfew ‘A night at the Bay’ will be a family friendly affair, with social distanced pods for up to 6 people and free entry for up to 4 kids.

Festival organiser Mike Earl said, ‘Planning our usual festival wasn’t possible with the uncertainties we’re all living with but, knowing how much we are all missing live music at the moment, we wanted to find a work around. Hopefully, restrictions will be loosened by the summer but, even if they’re not, the gig can still go ahead since we’ll be completely COVID-safe. It’s great to finally have a night out in the diary and our festival crowd can feel confident and comfortable in the socially distanced pods while they enjoy an amazing evening of live music.’ Mike has been running the Lady Bay Festival each September for the last eight years and has welcome high-profile headliners such as Tom Hingley formerly of the Inspiral Carpets and Terrorvision’s Tony Wright. The partnership with Nottingham Rugby is a new development for the festival, and the team are excited about the opportunity that the spacious site offers.

Steve Smith, COO of Nottingham rugby, said, ‘Hosting a gig night is a new venture for us and we’re very excited about bringing in such a quality line up to the Bay. We’ve got a really positive relationship with the community and businesses here in Lady Bay and are also looking forward to bringing in some of the local, award-winning, food vendors to make it a really great experience for the audience.’

Tickets for ‘A night at the Bay’ go on sale at Gigantic.com on Friday 11th December 2020.
