Huge congratulations to NTU 2nd year student Sam Williams, who made his England U20s debut at the Junior Rugby World Cup at the weekend vs Scotland.
The openside flanker, who is a contracted player with Leicester Tigers but who played for NTU as a first-year student during 2023/24 season and progressed into the Nottingham Rugby Championship team 24/25, started and starred in a comfortable victory over rivals Scotland in the opening fixture of the JWC in Italy.
Head of Rugby, David Ross commented on Sam’s selection, “Sam is the highest-level example of what it is to be a student athlete at NTU. He is combing his studies with playing for NTU, Nottingham Rugby, Leicester Tigers and now England 20s and through his professionalism, organisation and maturity, is excelling. He has had some injuries to overcome recently, so it is brilliant to see him out on the field playing again and impacting onto the national team at that level. We all wish him well and will be watching the remaining games.”
England’s remaining pool fixtures are against Australia and South Africa and all at NTU wish Sam and the squad the best of luck in their attempt to retain the Junior World Cup.
