The pitch at Lady Bay has been kept in great condition over the lockdown period, thanks to The Irrigation Company and our ground staff.

The Irrigation Company, based in Nottingham, has helped keep The Bay’s grass alive for over six years, and has also refreshed the sprinkler control system at The Bay to help maintain the pitch since then. All of the irrigation water for the site is drawn from a borehole underneath the stands which allows the club to meet its legal obligations with the Environment Agency.

Adrian Handbury from The Irrigation Company said: “As a former front row player (built for comfort rather than speed) who was born and schooled in the county I have enjoyed supporting Nottingham Rugby as my home team.

“My work is predominantly as an irrigation systems designer; I design sports irrigation systems around the world and which include many celebrated golf courses, race courses and football facilities.”

Steve Smith, Nottingham Rugby, said: “The Irrigation Company have really helped The Bay’s pitch become what it is today. It’s looking in top shape ready for the new season whenever that may be. John Fox, one of our groundsmen, is also doing a cracking job of keeping the grounds in a great condition.”
