Born in Scotland, McConnell signed for Nottingham in May 2015 from Glasgow Warriors after spending 5 years in both their academy and professional system. The scrum-half began playing for West of Scotland before being noticed by Glasgow Warriors and joining as an Elite Development Player in 2010. He was assigned to Ayr RFC to aid his development and Murray was voted Ayr Rugby Club’s 1st XV player of the year in the 2013/14 season. Despite only making 5 appearances for Glasgow, including an away game vs Munster in 2015, McConnell has also captained the Scotland U20 side in the 2012 Six Nations tournament. A young scrum-half who boasts international and PRO12 understanding, Murray will help keep the No.9 jersey competitive throughout his stay at Nottingham.
