Doncaster Knights, despite being docked five points on 31/03/20, managed to finish the 2019/20 Greene King IPA Championship season in 10th place on 36.84 points.

They kicked off their season with a 20-8 away victory against Hartpury University, but back-to-back defeats followed. They were beaten 44-25 by Cornish Pirates and 27-0 by Jersey Reds in rounds two and three respectively.

Round nine saw Doncaster and Nottingham face each other for the first time during the 2019/20 season, and the game was decided by a last-second conversion from Sam Olver after Howard Packman crossed the line on 80 minutes. That successful kick handed Doncaster a 16-15 victory on 18th January.

The reverse fixture was never played, due to the Covid-19 cut-off.

Doncaster have been quiet on the new-signings front so far, although they have landed brother to Ireland’s fly-half & captain Johnny Sexton – Jerry Sexton. Jerry enjoyed two seasons in the Championship with Jersey Reds before moving to South Africa. He played 53 times for The Reds, scoring 8 tries and skippering the side.

They have also landed the signing of back rower Guido Volpi, who will spend the 2020/21 Season with the Knights on loan from Pro 14 side Ospreys.

Back in November, The Knights announced the signing of second-row Will Britton on a one-year deal from Bath Rugby.

We will travel to Castle Park to face Doncaster in our final game of the 2020/21 season on the weekend of May, 29.
