Nottingham Rugby is pleased to confirm the signing of James Connolly from Irish Province Connacht, who is a dynamic, hard running player who has made a total of 36 senior competitive appearances since signing his first senior playing contract there in 2016-17.

Connolly was born in Leinster, however played for the neighbouring province Connacht for most of his youth rugby, where he was nominated as the province’s Player of the Year for his age grade at both under-19 and under-20 levels.

Neil Fowkes, Head Coach at Nottingham Rugby said “James has played at both blind and open side flanker in the Pro 14 and in Europe for Connacht which gives him some excellent experience. He is very mobile and dynamic which will suit our brand of high tempo attacking rugby. We have made two recent signings in our back row with James being the first announced to join Josh Poullet, Will Owen, George Cox and Seb Cecil which will make this area extremely competitive”.

Nottingham will be announcing their final back row player as soon as possible.

NB: Unfortunately, due to work commitments Jesse Liston has been released by mutual agreement from his contract for season 2019-20
