Despite opening the scoring with an early Charlie Thacker try, Nottingham were unable to come away with the win over Coventry in their last away game of the season

Coventry took the lead six minutes after Thacker’s try, with Wand going over for the try and Will Talbot Davies slotting the conversion. From that point they never looked back.

The visitors suffered a double blow midway through the half when winger David Williams was carded and the home side were awarded a penalty try and there was a third for the hosts when James Martin dotted down on the stroke of half-time.

Nottingham kept pressing and hooker Jack Dickinson had bagged a second try midway through the half, but Coventry surged clear early in the second period when Talbot-Davies and Ma’asi went over in the space of five minutes.

The pace of Harry Graham took the Nottingham winger to the line in the 54th minutes and there were some nervous moments for the supporters when lock James Tyas was then sent to the sin bin.

But a sixth try for Cov soon followed when a well-worked catch and drive move ended with Sentiki Nayalo being trundled over .

Nottingham were able to take something away from the game, specifically a try bonus point, which they wraped up five minutes from the end when Michael Green dotted down in the corner, the home side’s Will Chudley then seeing the game out from the sin bin for an offence in the build-up.

The Green and Whites will close out their season on Friday night when they welcome London Scottish to the Bay.
