Former NTU student, David Williams, will make his 150th Nottingham Rugby appearance this evening against Chinnor in the RFU Championship.

David Williams (aka Cheese) joined NTU in 2016 and immediately made an impact with his all action, try scoring, highlight reel style of play. He quickly became a favourite player of the fans and his peers and cemented this with a hat-rick of tries against University of Nottingham in 2018 Varsity match at Lady Bay in front of 4000 fans.
The 2019 season saw his last games for NTU before making the full-time step up to Nottingham Rugby where he had already been playing in The Championship and a noteworthy appearance against Edinburgh University away from home where he scored two tries for the team en route to winning the Premier A league title that season.

Head of NTU Rugby and Nottingham Rugby’s attack coach, David Ross, has nothing but glowing praise for Cheese as he approaches his 150th game for Nottingham. David said “What a brilliant achievement for Cheese to get to such a significant milestone for Nottingham in The Championship and we are all over the moon for him at both NTU and Notts. Cheese is synonymous with both programmes having come through the performance pathway at NTU after being recruited from Leicester Tigers and has gone on to be one of the top performers in The Championship for the past eight years. He works hard, scores unbelievable tries and this year he has stepped up to captain the team and has done that unbelievably well.
As his university and club coach for the past six seasons, I am unbelievably proud of him and I consider it an honour to coach such a brilliant player on a daily basis and look forward to him reaching the next big milestone for him and the club.’
