Nottingham Rugby is delighted to announce that Head Coach Neil Fowkes has penned a one-year contract extension at The Bay.

Fowkes has been part of the club, both as a player and a coach, since 1987 – and will now stay with the club for at least another 12 months.

Moving through the club’s junior ranks at Ireland Avenue, after joining as an Under-7 minis player, he went on to make 210 first team appearances for the club at loose head prop across 12 years between 1999 and 2011.

He was also part of the Green and Whites squad which achieved promotion to National Division One, now the Championship, during the 2003/04 season.

Fowkes took over the Head Coach role at the end of the 2017/18 campaign, succeeding Ian Costello who moved to a senior coaching role at Premiership side Wasps.

Head Coach, Neil Fowkes, said: “I’m really pleased to commit to the club for another year. The club holds a close place in my heart and a place I enjoy working, the staff and everyone involved. I’ve been here a long time, very privileged to work with some good coaches here on my journey and there’s a good set of coaches here now.

“I’m always learning and always wanting to improve and that’s something that the club allows me to do.”

Chief Operating Officer, Steve Smith, said: “It’s great to have Fowksey on board with the Green and Whites for at least another season. I have the upmost respect for Fowksey and we have a brilliant working relationship which helps the club both on and off the field.

“His dedication and commitment to the club and the players development is excellent and his passion for the club and everything we are trying to achieve is infectious. I look forward to continuing our work and building on the excellent foundations that have been laid which includes our Academy and Nottingham Trent University programmes.”
