After a solid performance against Hartpury last Sunday, Nottingham Rugby Head Coach, Neil Fowkes, has named his team that will face Richmond in the eighth round of the Greene King IPA Championship.

Scrum-half and captain Murray McConnell starts in place of Darryl Veenendaal, who suffered an injury in the first half against Hartpury, to make up the only change to last week’s starting XV.

Sunday’s 26-7 victory at The Bay was Nottingham’s third consecutive win at home, and the side now sit in fifth place in the table heading into tomorrow’s fixture.

Neil Fowkes has spoken highly of his young sides’ togetherness and positive attitude over the first few matches and he is hoping they will put in another strong performance on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the match, Fowkes said: “We had a tough game last week against Hartpury in tricky conditions but our quality shone through despite the boys not putting in their best performance.

“We have been making steady progress this season and have had some great results so far but we are not getting carried away with ourselves.

“Richmond are a proven Championship side with some real quality talent in their ranks.

“The fact that there is a bonus point win between eighth and fourth shows how fine margins are in this league and how competitive every match is.”
