Neil Fowkes’s men take on Jersey Reds at Stade Santander International tomorrow afternoon, 3:00pm, and will be looking to avoid consecutive away defeats.

Last time on the road, Nottingham Rugby faced a tough Hartpury side and the game was decided on penalties alone. Head Coach Neil Fowkes is expecting a tough game against The Islanders.

He said: “Jersey, especially at home, are always physical. They have a big forward back, big driving maul and a big scrum so it’s a big challenge for us what Andi Kyriacou has layed down to the forwards this week. We need to go there and meet that challenge and make sure we come out on the right side of it.”

Jersey have scored 25 more points than the Green and Whites in the league this season, although the home side do have a worse points difference.

“They also have some exciting backs,” said Fowkes. He added: “They’re scoring tries from behind their own line so we’ve got to be right on our metal defensively all the way up the pitch because they’ve got some dangerous runners at nine, fifteen and the wings.

“They’ve got a bit of an all-core game. It will be interesting to see what the conditions are like over there – I think the forecast is to be very wet and very windy so we know what sort of battle is in store.”
