After a tough opening fixture against Bedford Blues last week, Nottingham Rugby face a fresh challenge when they take on Championship newcomers London Irish this weekend.

Despite achieving a bonus point loss, Head Coach Neil Fowkes will be hoping his side can build on the overall positive performance they put in against the Blues.

Speaking ahead of the game, Fowkes said: “London Irish are a fantastic side with a lot of talent. They will be a great test for us as our first away game of the season but the lads are raring to go after the close game we had at The Bay last week.

“We had a lot of the ball against the Blues but didn’t achieve the result”.

“I’m very happy with how the lads have responded this week and am proud of the effort they’ve put in.”

Nottingham face London Irish at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 8 September, kick-off 3pm.
