Nottingham Rugby’s young talent will once again be given the opportunity to shine when they face Doncaster Knights for the final match of the Championship Cup pool stage on Saturday.

While the results may not have gone the Green and Whites’ way over the past six weeks, Nottingham Rugby Head Coach Neil Fowkes feels there have been positives to build upon, including the opportunity given to the club’s up and coming players.

The Green and Whites’ strong link with Nottingham Trent University makes up around a quarter of the playing squad, with players participating in professional rugby alongside their studies.

Head Coach Neil Fowkes, feels their input is vital to his side’s success, he said: “I am delighted with how the younger members of our team have grasped the challenge of playing a very high standard of rugby in a highly competitive competition.

“The team that plays this weekend has a mix of youth and experience, with younger members of our squad who play in the BUCS Super League week-in-week-out taking the step up to play in the Cup.

“We know we have the opportunity to qualify for the next round but our focus on putting in a good performance against a tough Doncaster side.”
