Nottingham started the first half on top form playing really well but couldn’t quite convert the pressure into points. Against the run of play, Ealing slotted an excellent penalty to lead 3-0. Nottingham continued to apply pressure to the Ealing line and were finally rewarded when Joe Barnes weaved through to score and convert his own try to lead 7-3.

The Academy continued to build pressure and phases but were then undone by an exceptional solo try from Ealing to lead 10-14. Nottingham’s defence continued to dominate in the tackle and an excellent defensive set which allowed Ealing no time or space led to a Cameron Seaton intercept try, Joe Barnes converted to give Nottingham the lead again at the break 14-10 with the Nottingham team reflecting on opportunities missed.

In the second half Ealing came out the blocks firing with two well-worked team tries giving them a 14-24 lead and leaving the Nottingham team shell shocked. Then two tries from Joe Morgan, one through good forward play close to the line where the Green and Whites kept possession well and the other a great individual finish after some lovely team attack and interplay. Taran Elms coolly converted both making the final score 28-24 and giving the Green and Whites a much-deserved win against a strong Ealing side.
