Squad mentions:

A few changes to last weeks defeat to Ealing sees some opportunity for both returning and prospect players for Nottingham.

The away trip to Cornish provides an opportunity for Allen and Andrade to back up a solid performance last week from the pair in the engine room. Tweedy also managed to hold down the 7 jersey off the back of a variance of defensive efforts last week.

Replacements in the back line give opportunity to Cusick in the 13 jersey coming off the back of England U20’s win last week. And also to mention skipper for the weekend David Williams looking to carry on his fine run of form, breaking the all time Nottingham record for most try’s in the Championship.

One mention on the bench goes out to Josh Poullet, current captain at the club, returning from injury and looking to make his way back into the squad and bolster what is already turning out to be a tough and highly competitive back row.

From Hammo:

Head coach Craig Hammond remembers the last time out against the Cornish Pirates as a close game at the Bay, despite what the final score may suggest. “It was close for parts of the game. It goes to show that against a quality team if you give away a few penalties they’ll get you in the corner and put a lot of pressure on you 5 metres out.”

After a good performance against Ealing last Friday, Hammond is confident of getting a result out of this weekend’s encounter with the Pirates. “The boys are working really hard but we’ve got to start getting results and this is a good opportunity. It is a long way and Pirates go really well at home, so this is a good chance for us to build on last Friday’s Ealing game.”
