Nottingham Academy players had a great day of training yesterday down at Lady Bay, learning from the Green and White players and coaches.  As we have seen over the years this has been a great opportunity for young aspirational players to receive high quality coaching, whilst also developing their knowledge of Strength & Conditioning and Diet & Nutrition in particular.  Since the Academy was re-launched it has undoubtedly supported the development of players throughout the East Midlands area, with a huge number of players representing their constituent bodies, with 30% moving into regional squads and over ten now representing their countries!

Steve Smith the clubs Chief Operating Officer said “what a great day for the Academy lads with them doing some training with Academy Head Coach Steve McGinnis and Backs Coach Nick Carroll alongside the Green and Whites squad and then receive some specific small group coaching from senior players.  The link between our Academy and Nottingham Trent Universities programme continues to grow and it was great for the lads to see several players making the transition into the Nottingham senior squad for pre-season.”

The club currently has nineteen players attending Nottingham Trent University who are doing some or all of pre-season with Nottingham Rugby ranging from well known faces like Jake Farnworth and David Williams and some newer faces to both programmes like Tom Stevenson and Calum Allen.
