Nottingham will face Doncaster Knights in the Championship Cup quarter-final at The Bay this coming Friday, an occasion that promises to be exciting for everybody involved.

Neil Fowkes’ men finished top of Pool 3 after an impressive away victory at Cornish Pirates in the final group game, and the rewards are a home quarter-final.

“The boys spoke after the game on Friday and said ‘You don’t get the opportunity to play in these games very often’,” said Fowkes. “To have it at home as well is a massive plus for us. The boys are excited to get out there and they want to do well in the cup. They will be giving everything they’ve got to get the win.”

The visitors picked up an emphatic away victory last time out, as they beat Jersey Reds 38-10, and Neil Fowkes is well aware of their threats.

He said: “Having seen their (Doncaster) game at the weekend they’ve got a good scrum and carry the ball well. They’re a tough side.

“We’re not expecting anything less than their forward back coming here to show us what they’re about we’ve got to step up and control the football when we need to.”
