The off-season is a time where players, coaches and supporters can go away and re-charge their batteries ready for the start of another Championship Rugby campaign, but the work hasn’t stopped behind-the-scenes with a number of off-field changes.

Chris Brookes has come in as General Manager, with Ash Willis joining as Media, Marketing and Operations. Brookes has been hard at work since his arrival in July, and he explains a little bit more about his role.

He said: “I’m looking at the development side of the club, looking after the facilities and the events and the corporate side of things, looking at moving the club forward.

“I started with the club in July this year, but I have been involved with the club for four years. I was the Academy Manager for Nottingham Rugby then I took the General Manager’s role. We’ve had some great times down here and I’m looking forward to the season.”

Nottingham Rugby has made some significant changes off the field during the Summer which supporters will be able to see on Friday night when we take on Yorkshire.

“Lots of exciting things have happened around the club during the off-season which will continue right through to the first game,” said Chris Brookes. He added: “We have had a brand-new PA system put in to the marquee which is state-of-the-art, and has also been extended around the ground which will help with our matchday experience for our fans.”

It’s not just the players and supporters that are looking forward to Friday…

Chris Brookes said: “I’m looking forward to the start of the season and getting all of our jobs done. We’re all looking forward to it, we’ve got a new team in place in the office with Ash Willis joining us in the role of Media, Marketing and Operations and he’s doing a great job – there’s a great buzz in the office. Smithy (Steve Smith) is still leading the team and is still full of enthusiasm so yeah, we can’t wait to see Yorkshire Carnegie down here.”
